The ~acwr"Arts Council - Windsor and Region (ACWR) has up-to-date information on local arts and cultural events and exhibitions throughout Windsor and Essex County. This non-profit organization, committed to the development of community arts and the realization of full artistic potential in our region, represents a vibrant network of artists and artisans. Be sure to check out their Artspeak Gallery. The ACWR is open from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. *Many of the facility names below are active links to their own website.

The exciting 2001 Winter exhibition schedule is highlighted by Impressionist Masterworks from the National Gallery of Canada, which runs February 10 - May 6.

This retail facility is also home to an Inuit and Native Canadian Art Gallery, specializing in Eskimo/Inuit soapstone sculpture. Between 500-1000 pieces are on display at all times! The selection also features coastal Salish (Haida) redwood carvings, including totem poles, masks and "talking sticks".

Murals

Olde Sandwich Towne in Windsor, and the Town of Essex in the centre of Essex County, boast an elaborate series of historical murals which detail significant events in their development.

Windsor Sculpture Garden, located at Assumption and Centennial Parks, invites you to stroll along the riverfront and experience its collection of works, unified by their differences and the richness of their multi-textured variety.

The only Wood Carving Museum in Ontario, a beautiful expansive one-room museum, located only minutes from downtown. The Museum includes over 150 carvings in a climate controlled environment. The quality of the carvings and the size of our facility make the visit very appealing for personal visits or tours. On-site gift shop. Open year round, 10am-5pm, Tuesday to Friday; and 10am-4pm Saturdays. Wheelchair accessible, ample parking, washrooms and cafe on-site. Demonstrations occur each Friday and Saturday between 11:30am and 3pm. Group tours by appointment.
